“So why do you find potions so difficult? You’re actually not doing half bad,” Draco remarked as he watched Harry add ingredients to his cauldron.
“Snape makes me nervous. Have you noticed how he’s always hovering over my cauldron and criticizing every little thing I do? He drives me fucking insane,” Harry ranted, still suspicious that Draco was up to something.
“Everyone notices. Look, I actually have an ulterior motive for bringing you here,” Draco said, sitting on the table next to the one where Harry was working.
“I knew it,” Harry muttered, crossing his arms over his chest and glaring at Draco.
Draco rolled his eyes. “Why do you always want to think the worst? I bet your friends don’t even know you’re here do they?” he asked, swinging his feet as he watched Harry add another ingredient.
“They think I have detention again. Ron would go fucking crazy if he knew I was alone with you. What about your minions?” Harry asked as the potion started to simmer.
“Crabbe and Goyle? They’re too wrapped up in each other. They could care less where I am,” Draco said with a nonchalant shrug.
“Right. So what’s this ulterior motive you mentioned?” Harry asked as he bottled his potion and sat it on Snape’s desk.
“I want a truce. I’m tired of this petty schoolboy feud shit. I’m not the same person I was when I was eleven ya know? I mean now I know how you feel – there are so many fucking rumours flying around this school about me since Father was sent to Azkaban. It’s driving me crazy,” Draco ranted as he paced around the room.
Harry snorted and closed his eyes before humming softly. “I see strange tells are woven about you,” he predicted in an eerie impersonation of Professor Trelawny.
“Oh ha ha,” Draco snapped. “Go on and make fun of me,” he pouted as he helped Harry clean up his potions supplies.
“Sorry, it’s just that I want to know which rumours are true. For instance,” Harry motioned to Draco’s left arm.
Draco sighed and unbuttoned the cuff of his shirt, pulling the sleeve up and exposing his forearm silently. Harry gasped softly and without thinking ran his hand over the god-awful tattoo. “So, that one’s true. Why?” he asked, sitting on a table and motioning for Draco to join him.
“Voldemort threatened to kill my Mum if I refused. You could say I had no choice. Any other rumours you interested in?” Draco asked, glancing down at his arm where Harry was still tracing the tattoo with his fingers.
Harry blushed slightly and pulled his hand away. “Well, there is one that you like…” he broke off with a shrug as he became very interested in his shoes.
“That I like boys? I’ve heard the same about you Mr. Potter. You’re going to have to come clean on this one before I answer,” Draco said, enjoying the fact that Harry looked uncomfortable.
After a few minutes of silence, Harry licked his lips before looking over at Draco. “Yeah, I like boys. Got a problem with it?”
Draco shook his head. “Me too.”There was silence again as the two teenagers contemplated the others revelation. Harry held his hand out to Draco, their eyes meeting. Draco smiled and shook Harry’s hand; this was going to be interesting.
